Coorg Trip

Place: Coorg
Date: 4-6 April 2015

Day 1:

Our bus reached Madikeri at dawn, searched for hotel for quite a while. Then found one room in a hotel. After resting for a while we booked a car for 3 days. Had breakfast and started for a whole day sightseeing.

Weather was quite cloudy. We went through a hilly road. Reached the Thala-Cauvery Temple at Brahmagiri Hills. The view from top of the hill was astonishing, with added beauty of stacked stones scattered all around.

Next we headed to Bhagamandala Temple, confluence of three rivers Cauvery, Kannike and the sub terrain Sujyoti.

Then we went to Dubare Elephant Camp. We had to cross a shallow river to get to the camp. There were lots of small and big elephants, eating, bathing, walking around. Elephant riding was there too. But we didn’t ride.

Then to a Nisargadhama. It’s a park full of tree trunk arts. There were also deer, elephants, birds etc.

Finally to Nyingmapa Monastery at evening. Then we returned to Madikeri

Day 2:

We had a jeep booked for this day, as the trip was going to be off-road. Iniatially we started for Abbey falls. At this time of the year, there was not much water in falls.

Then reached our main destination Mandalpetti, which is a huge hilly area. But it was dry in that time, not quite green as we had seen in photos. Anyway the terrain was quite interesting.

Then as we had half of the day to spare we went around town for temples, tombs etc.

In the evening we had our dinner at a restaurant “Coorg Cuisine” with rice dumplings and porks.

Day 3:

Last day we started with waterfalls again, Irpu Falls. Which was full of disasters, first I got some dizziness while getting up to the waterfall, then one of my friend broke someone’s iphone while taking their photo. Anyway after resting there for a while got back on our track again.

And then we went to Nagarhole National Park. Had safari there, saw deers, boars, elephants, turtles.

Then we took bus from Madikeri for Bangalore at evening. And then another disaster, that same friend’s phone got stolen on the way to his home, which got to know after I had returned Chennai from Bangalore.
